Cornouaille Theatre – National Stage

Cornouaille Theatre was approved as a National Stage in 1994 and Centre of Musical Creation in 2005.

With more than 80 performances per season and nearly 50,000 spectators annually in all genres, Cornouaille Theatre – Quimper’s National Stage - has been a success since its debut, a success which shows no sign of waning.

It welcomes composers and players in residence. It produces and co-produces musical performances destined to nourish musical life in France and beyond, thanks to touring after their initial creation in Quimper. Opera, musical theatre, composer partnerships, performers, orchestras, contemporary and traditional music…. The Centre of Musical Creation is dedicated to the promotion of all musical genres and aesthetics and of their respective artistes.

In France there are very few theatres where on can attend, every year, such a large number of contemporary or musical performances. In Quimper, the quantity and quality of music performances and their insertion into the daily activities of the National Stage plus their repeated welcome by the Quimper public, have made this theatre management one of the most important music movements being led in France…

Cornouaille Theatre is subsidised by Quimper Council, the State (Ministry of Culture and Communication – Brittany Regional Cultural Affairs Management) and Finistère Regional Council.
