Quimper is particularly well equipped with 5350 parking spaces, including 2600 in free parking zones.
The city centre of Quimper has 14 car parks and three parking zones: a paying zone (short and medium length), a limited-time restricted parking zone (European disc) and a free zone.
Parking plan
A new parking plan has just been published. Simple, clear, and also very practical: according to the length of time needed, it indicates where to park at the best price.
Online parking payment – Paying a reduced FPS (post-parking fee) online
Since 1st January, parking payment is dematerialized: the time of leaving tickets under the windscreen is over. From now on, you identify yourself by entering your license plate number on the parking meter. This then allows traffic wardens to check the validity of your payment on their device.
It is also possible to pay for parking with the Whoosh application and on the website https://www.whooshstore.fr.
If the parking time is exceeded or in case of non-payment, you will have to pay a post-parking fee (FPS) of:
- €17 maximum if you pay within 72hrs,
- €35 if you pay after 72hrs.
Parking: what has changed since 1st January, 2018
The national reform of paid on-street parking, imposed by the State, entered into force on 1st January, 2018. In the event of absence or insufficiency of payment, it is translated in particular by the disappearance of police "fines", replaced by a "post-parking fee" that is set by the community.
To accompany this change that it did not want, the city of Quimper is implementing several measures to facilitate parking and enhance the attractiveness of the city centre.
New ticket machines, new habits
Everything is simplified and dematerialized: no more tickets to leave under your windscreen. From now on, you identify yourself by entering your license plate number on the parking meter.
This then allows traffic wardens to check the validity of your payment on their device.
If the parking time is exceeded or in case of non-payment, you will have to pay a post-parking fee (FPS) of:
- €17 maximum if you pay within 72hrs,
- €35 if you pay after 72hrs.
Enjoy a free quarter of an hour twice a day
To do your shopping or drop your kids off at school, at the moment you have a free quarter of an hour a day. From 1st January, this offer doubles: you will be entitled to a free quarter of an hour in the morning and a free quarter of an hour in the afternoon.
To use it, it's simple; just enter your registration number in the ticket machine.
Four drop-off points (30 minutes free), indicated by a luminous bollard, can be found on Rue Gradlon and Place Alexandre Massé.
Pay remotely from any city parking meter or with the Whoosh app
If you are parked on the other side of the city, you do not have to go back to the same meter to pay for your overrun parking! Thanks to your license plate number, you can extend your parking time from any of the city’s parking meters for up to 2 hours. You can also extend or interrupt your parking time with the Whoosh app.
Do not forget
1. On-street parking in Quimper is always free between 12pm and 2pm and after 5pm.
2. It is always strictly forbidden to park in the pedestrian zone and is subject to a criminal fine (see below).
3. Offenses, other than those related to non-payment, always fall under police regime: obstruction, prohibited parking, use of reserved spaces. They can be the subject of a reported offense and fine of up to 135 €.
4. For long-term parking (more than 2 hours), make use of the 1394 parking spaces in car parks and multi-storeys.
Services
Free parking after 5pm
- On-street parking in the paying zone is free after 5pm.
- The Tour d'Auvergne, Steir and Lattre de Tassigny car parks and the Théodore Le Hars and the Cornouaille Theatre multi-storey car parks are not included in this measure.

Very attractive rates compared to the average city in France

A quarter of an hour free everywhere twice a day
- On all on-street paid-parking spaces, the first fifteen minutes of each time period, meaning once from 9am to 12pm and once from 2pm to 5pm, is free to facilitate short-term parking, type "drop-off ".
- In the multi-storeys, the first quarter of an hour is also free.

- Four drop-off points (30 minutes free), indicated by a luminous bollard, can be found on Rue Gradlon and Place Alexandre Massé.
Easy parking for residents
- In order to facilitate resident parking in the city centre, the subscriptions rates for the car parks and the multi-storeys have been maintained at a level well below that of non-residents (€32 per month or €384 per year).
- To facilitate long-term parking during the day, a single subscription of 32 euros per month, or about 1 euro per day, has been set up since 1st January, 2018 for the Steir and De Lattre de Tassigny car parks.
For professionals and house removals
The city of Quimper offers a daily flat rate or a monthly flat rate for the on-street parking of repair and maintenance companies who regularly intervene in the city centre as part of their activities, and in some cases for private removals.
Day permits
These are permits that authorise the temporary occupation of the public domain for one day, valid for a professional vehicle and delivered by the Reception of the Department of Transport and Roads (+33 (0)2 98 98 89 57). It should be noted that day permits are not issued in the period from 21st June to 31st August, except for public interest exceptions.

These are monthly renewable permits, valid for a professional vehicle and delivered by the parking-space rights department (+33 (0)2 98 98 88 93). It should be noted that monthly permits are not issued in the period from 21st June to 31st August, except for public interest exceptions.

Parking is limited to 2 hours and paid with a minimum charge of €0.50, from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm.

Parking time overruns are now covered by a post-parking fee (FPS) of 17 euros for the reduced post-parking fee from 2hrs15mins of parking and 35 euros from 2hrs30minutes parking.
If the post-parking fee is paid within 72 hours, the fee paid will be reduced to 17 euros less the amount already paid for parking.
How to make an online complaint (RAPO)
Mandatory preliminary administrative appeal
Any user who wishes to contest a payment notification for a post-parking fee (FPS) must make a mandatory preliminary administrative appeal (RAPO) to the City.
Car parks
The Tour d'Auvergne: 230 spaces, paying during the day from 7:30am to 7:30pm, free overnight from 7:30pm to 7:30am.
Marshal Lattre de Tassigny: 160 spaces, open and paying from 7:30am to 7:30pm for hourly users and 24/24 for subscribers.
